Held at St. John’s beautiful campus in Santa Fe, this compelling seminar fosters camaraderie in an environment that allows for extended dialogue on liberal arts education, democratic principles, and the role of civic dialogue—core to both the college’s ethos and democratic citizenship itself.
This curated experience with Los Alamos National Labs offers judges an exclusive introduction to the world of scientific discovery and its connection to justice. Hosted by scientists from LANL. Participants will explore how scientific knowledge is developed, tested, and communicated, and how to assess the validity of scientific evidence.
Justice at the Intersections explores the critical intersections between justice, mental health, tribal sovereignty, access to justice, and pretrial reform. Participants will engage in discussions and sessions that highlight innovative approaches to creating fair, compassionate, and culturally responsive justice systems.
This track is dedicated to developing the practical skills essential to effective and equitable judging. Sessions will provide hands-on strategies for case and courtroom management, clear and impartial communication, and procedural fairness.
This track explores the rapidly evolving role of artificial intelligence in the justice system and its implications for judicial decision-making, court administration, and access to justice. Sessions will examine current and emerging applications of AI—such as data analytics, case management tools, and decision-support systems—alongside the ethical, legal, and practical challenges they present.
